The Bellevue Historical Society Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
The Bellevue Historical Society has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.   #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (November 28th this year), after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back to the charities and causes they support.

The Historical Society joined #GIVINGTUESDAY at the request of a couple of out-of-town members, who found it an effective and easy way to support the work of the Society and the Tremont House Restoration Project.   Donations may be made by credit card or PayPal through our website, www.bellevuehistoricalsociety.com.  Checks may be mailed to the Society at:
P. O. Box 304, Bellevue, OH 44811.    All donations will benefit the Tremont House Restoration fund, to finish the front façade.  All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers are always welcome, to help with a variety of tasks at our office and campus. To volunteer, please contact a member, or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

About #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on November 28. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners
to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.

TASTE OF TREMONT.  IT’S A BLOCK PARTY!

Join us in Bellevue on Saturday, August 5th, on North West Street between Main and North Streets, for the Taste of Tremont.  It’s a Block Party!  The Bellevue Historical Society’s 3rd annual fundraiser is family-friendly.  Proceeds benefit the Tremont House Restoration Project.

Bone Boys BBQ is roasting a whole hog.  Cole slaw, corn on the cob, and chips will be available.

Cookies for dessert are donated by Copper Top Bake Shop.   Soft drinks and lemonade will be ice-cold.

NEW this year is a custom-brewed Tremont House Ale from Catawba Island Brewing Company.

This crisp blond ale will tease your palate, and is being made especially for our event.  CIBC Owner Mike Roder will introduce this signature Ale, and suggest foods to pair with this brew (think BBQ).

Wines from Sandusky's Firelands Winery and Clyde's Ski Lodge Winery will be available for tasting.

Winery Representatives Kerry McFadden from Firelands and Mike Ski from Ski Lodge, as well as Wine Chairmen Mich and Tom Kerr will discuss your wine preferences and possible food pairings.

An Open-Air Art Show and Sale will be held in the First National Bank Park from 2 to 6 p.m.  Check out the original and exciting items crafted by local artists and artisans of Art@106 Gallery and Shop.

An afternoon and evening of Jazz is on tap, provided by two groups:
Native Heart will perform from 2 to 5 p.m.  The Native Heart is a quartet started by husband and wife duo, Jon & Julie Torrence.   The band's musical taste and influence is broad, and their performances intentional and electric. Having been together for over a decade, their voices blend organically and complement their jazz-influenced folk sound. Their repertoire ranges from jazz standards to contemporary music, from folk legends to original songs, all the while remaining driven by rhythmic intensity and emotional strength. At the heart of the Native Heart is a love of art and storytelling, and this is portrayed within their music.
Musicology will perform from 5 to 8 p.m.  MUSICOLOGY is a group of up and coming young jazz musicians who play an assortment of jazz, blues, funk and more.  .

Catawba Island Brewing Company is coming to Bellevue!   For a limited time only!
The craft brewery has cooked up a special brew for the Bellevue Historical Society’s summer event, the Taste of Tremont Block Party.  Tremont House Ale will be available on tap, and in limited-edition souvenir bottles so join us to try CIBC’s newest beer!
This light, summery blonde ale is crisp and refreshing, bursting with aromas and flavors of fresh cherries.  Beer lovers will get a stemmed Belgian beer souvenir glass and $5 in beverage tickets for $10.

Taste for $1.00; quaff a 12-oz. glass for $5.00.

Additional tickets are available. As a special promotion, the Brewery has bottled just 50 collectors’ bottles, in a numbered special edition.  Forty-nine of these 22-oz. bottles will be sold at the event for $20.00 each, limit two per person, no early sales.  Bottle number one will be auctioned.

Join us on Saturday, August 5th, from 2 to 8 p.m. on North West Street, for the Taste of Tremont Block Party.  Food will be available, and wines from Firelands Winery, Sandusky and Ski Lodge Winery, Clyde.
