“BELLEVUE REMEMBERED” at Historical Society Annual Meeting

The Bellevue Historical Society’s Annual Meeting is on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Bellevue Society for the Arts, 205 Maple St., Bellevue.
All are welcome to join us.“Bellevue Remembered”, organized by Program Chairman Mary Mitchell, will feature reminiscences from 2002 oral histories, recorded as part of the Ohio Bicentennial’s Wallpaper Project.

Hear these voices from Bellevue’s past:  Original participants Peggy Missler, Historian Bill Oddo, and Patricia Sullivan will share their memories from that time.  Hazel Decker’s memories will be read by her daughter April Bickel; Police Chief Russel Hetrick’s by Police Chief Mark Kaufman; Willis Lodge’s by daughters, LeRose Meadows and Sue Andrews; and Bob Wagner’s by his daughter, Gail Coe.

A brief business meeting and election of Directors will precede the program.

Historic Lyme Village and the Bellevue Historical Society are working together to sponsor a Harvest Barn Dance on Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The dance floor will be in Lyme Village’s newest ‘old’ building, the Schaefer Barn.   Area residents are invited for an evening of fun, food, dancing, and weather permitting and a bonfire singalong.

Join us for square dancing (with a short dance ‘class’ for all who would like to learn the steps), line dancing, two-step, and more, maybe even a chicken dance.  Cider, soft drinks, and a light meal will be available.

Doors open at 6:00pm for a social hour; dancing begins at 7:00pm; and the evening will close with a singalong.

Admission is $10 per person for this old-fashioned Saturday night dance party, co-hosted by Historic Lyme Village and the Bellevue Historical Society.  Tickets are available at the Lyme Village Gift Shop, Hunter’s Needs, and from Board members of both organizations.

The Bellevue Historical Society Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
The Bellevue Historical Society has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.   #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (November 28th this year), after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back to the charities and causes they support.

The Historical Society joined #GIVINGTUESDAY at the request of a couple of out-of-town members, who found it an effective and easy way to support the work of the Society and the Tremont House Restoration Project.   Donations may be made by credit card or PayPal through our website, www.bellevuehistoricalsociety.com.  Checks may be mailed to the Society at:
P. O. Box 304, Bellevue, OH 44811.    All donations will benefit the Tremont House Restoration fund, to finish the front façade.  All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers are always welcome, to help with a variety of tasks at our office and campus. To volunteer, please contact a member, or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

About #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on November 28. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners
to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.
